Hosted by Partners in Care, the 9th annual Pink & Blue Golf Scramble returns to the Tri-Cities this fall to raise money and mobilize attention on behalf of cancer patients.
The charity event happens on Friday, Oct. 6 at Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewick, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Proceeds from the event will remain in the Tri-Cities area and support Partners in Care, a national nonprofit foundation dedicated to serving cancer patients.
During the event, 36 teams of four will face off for a chance to win a grand prize. Entry fee per player is $75 for Canyon Lakes members and $125 for nonmembers. The entry fee includes green fees, range balls, an event T-shirt and special dinner. Both team and individual prizes will be awarded, including closest to the pin prizes for men and women.
The Kennewick golf scramble follows a successful Partners in Care 5K Run and 2-Mile Walk this spring in Richland. That event attracted 116 participants and another 55 volunteers to Columbia Point Marina’s scenic Riverfront Trail.
“From golf to fun runs, our supporters and volunteers in the Tri-Cities are among the most dedicated around,” said Kathy Tolentino, director of the Florida-based national nonprofit. “These events help directly support the incidental-yet-considerable expenses associated with cancer care that aren’t covered by insurance, from gas and lodging during treatment to medical supplies and other expenses. This supports patients to keep their focus where it should be — on battling the disease without the burden of these costs.”
The tournament director is Maria McDonald McNamar, also an event originator. Matt, head golf pro at Canyon Lakes, will oversee the competition,
