Partners in Care brings annual fundraisers to Colorado Spring, Denver
A pair of inaugural Colorado charity runs for head and neck cancer patients attracted more than 100 participants and raised thousands toward cancer education, screening and treatment in Denver and Colorado Springs.
A total of 120 runners and walkers participated in the annual Partners in Care 5K Runs and 2-Mile Walks in May at Carpenter Park in Thornton and America the Beautiful Park in Colorado Springs.
In Denver, Mireya Luna was the top female finisher, while hometown runner Brian Cervenka was the fastest male participant.
In Colorado Springs, local resident Samantha Cordasco finished first among female runners, while Walter Jones, also of Colorado Springs, earned top honors among male racers. The two events garnered more than $5,000 for head and neck cancer patient support.
The charitable foundation hosts a nationwide series of spring charity runs, with additional events scheduled or recently completed in California, Florida, North and South Carolina, Washington and West Virginia.
The race series began 11 years ago to bring awareness to head and neck cancers and to raise money for those unable to afford costly recovery therapies that often aren’t covered by insurance or which require a very high copay.
